This only relates to installs of WordPress on our new Linux hosting plans (at cp.blacknight.com). If you are having similiar problems on a Windows plan, or our older Direct Admin linux hosting plans please contact our Support department for further assistance or have a further look through our knowledgebase.
WordPress installed through the Application Vault:
If you installed WordPress through the Application Vault you should not be using the "Add new Plugin" or "Add new Theme" functions, you should instead be using the "Plugin Uploader" and "Theme Uploader" functions now available in the wp-admin section.
You should not be upgrading an install through the Application Vault in any place other than through the Application Vault itself.
WordPress installed manually:
If you have installed WordPress on your Linux hosting plan and are trying to upgrade it or install a new plugin but are getting the following error (or similiar):
"Unable to locate WordPress root\content directory"
Please verify your FTP settings are fully correct. You can see these in cp.blacknight.com under Sites & Domains >> domainname >> FTP Access
If you are sure these are correct or want to run them by us to make sure, please contact help@blacknight.com
An Alternative:
If you are certain those are correct but are still getting the error, or you don't want to use the Application Vault's plugin uploader, you can switch to PHP 5 That is done in cp.blacknight.com under:
Websites >> Domainname >> Website Configuration >> Edit
Turn off PHP 4 Support and set PHP 5 Support to run in cgi-mode
This will resolve the issue however if there are any files owned by 'apache' you will need to contact our Support team to get these ownerships reset.
