This article applies to websites hosted on our newer https://cp.blacknighthosting.com platform using the MEGA/GIGA/TERA and WordPress hosting plans.
For customers on our older https://cp.blacknight.com platform using Minimus/Medius/Maximus hosting plans, please contact our Sales team to have an SSL Certificate added.
MEGA/GIGA/TERA (Plesk) & WordPress (cPanel) now support Let's Encrypt SSL Certificates as part of your plan.
In order for a Let's Encrypt SSL Certificates to be automatically issued and installed, the domain name (example.com) must be pointing to the server.
You can obtain the IP address of your server by going to the following in the new Blacknight Control Panel, https://cp.blacknighthosting.com:
- Services >> My Services
- Click on your MEGA/GIGA/TERA or WordPress hosting plan.
- Scroll down towards the bottom and find the IP Address.
If the DNS for your domain is hosted by Blacknight, you can add it by going to:
- Domains >> Manage DNS Records
- Find the domain and click the pencil icon
- If there is an A Record that pointing to an IP address already, this will need to be edited. Click the pencil beside the A Record and replace the Address with the new IP address.
- Once you add this, wait a couple of hours for the changes to propagate, and after a few hours, LetsEncrypt should be activated.
If the DNS for your domain is NOT hosted by Blacknight, you will need to:
- Log into your DNS provider
- Update the A Record for the domain and point it to the IP address from above.
- Wait a couple of hours for the changes to propagate, and after a few hours, LetsEncrypt should be activated.
Note:
Some scripts/plugins or restrictions in the .htaccess file may prevent a LetsEncrypt SSL from being issued. If you find that the LetsEncrypt SSL doesn't automatically issue, we ask that you disable/rename these scripts/plugins or rename the .htaccess file in order for it to be issued.
Let's Encrypt is NOT available on our older Shared Hosting Plans (Minimus/Medius/Maximus), but an SSL Certificate can be provided to you. Please contact our Sales team to add this on.
