If the domain is not going to be set to use our nameservers, or you have a newer VM plan running Plesk, you can just add it under Domains >> existing domainname >> Domain Aliases in Plesk itself.
We really do not recommend you use Plesk's Domain Alias option on our legacy VPS plans as it is designed primarily for use if you are using Plesk as a stand-alone control panel (i.e. not integrated with the pem cp.blacknight.com system) or unless you are not setting the domain alias to use our nameservers.
We generally recommend you set up the domain as a standard forwarder instead and although this means the email accounts on both domains won't automatically be the one and the same, it is better for your Search Engine Rankings. You can set up a Standard Forwarder as follows:
# Add the domain as normal through http://cp.blacknight.com. See the following article if you need any help on doing this:
https://help.blacknight.com/entries/22929127-adding-domains-to-a-plesk-vps
# Log in to Plesk and go to: Domains >> newdomain >> Setup. Here you can set the Standard Forwarding hosting option
Please note, as above, we do not really recommend this on our VPS plans as it could cause complications when\if you ever need to delete the aliased domain name, however this is not an issue with our newer VM plans. To add a domain as a domain alias to Plesk directly do the following:
# Add the domain as normal through http://cp.blacknight.com. See the following article if you need any help on doing this:
https://help.blacknight.com/entries/22929127-adding-domains-to-a-plesk-vps
# Log in to Plesk and under Domains, tick the box beside the domain name, and delete\remove selected (not needed on a VM)
# Now while still in the Plesk control panel click on the domain you want the new domain to be an alias of and go to "Domain Aliases"
# Add the new domain under here.
The reason for this is to ensure the domain gets correctly added to our nameservers and the only way for that to happen is to submit the domain to plesk through cp.blacknight.com, however you can not specify the type of hosting while doing this.
