Secondary Storage
Secondary Storage allows you to store a great deal more data - up to 2000 GB, on your Cloud VPS.
One such use for this drive is to mount it as another storage location for the "Home" folder for "cPanel User Accounts" (Website and Email). Once configured correctly you can either move existing cPanel User Accounts - to free up space on the native drive, or place new accounts on that mount.
To allow for this some setup steps have to be followed and the server rebooted.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
You should ensure that it is safe to carry out this operation, especially where the disk is already mounted and perhaps has been in use already in some capacity/configuration. If you are unsure of this please contact us so we can determine if there will be an issue changing the mount point.
Mount Disk
You can log on to your VPS via SSH (if enabled) or console and mount the additional drive. You need to follow the instructions for your operating system for how best to do this.
Rearrange an Account
Now that you have added the mount point and it has been picked up in cPanel, you can go ahead and rearrange the cPanel User Account.
You carry out this process in your "WHM" control panel - the hosting management panel for the cPanel VM itself; the URL for this is below (replace with the IP address of the server in question):
https://SERVER_IP_ADDRESS:2087
Once logged into WHM, the location to rearrange an account is as follows:
Home >> Account Functions >> Rearrange an Account
Ensure you follow the steps on screen and take note of any warnings that appear. You should also note that it may take some time for existing accounts - with relatively large data, however, it is very quick to rearrange the account if a newly created account.
The following documentation, from cPanel, details the overall process:
