This article applies to websites hosted on our newer https://cp.blacknighthosting.com platform.
For how to set this up on cp.blacknight.com please see here: https://help.blacknight.com/hc/en-us/articles/212523009-Domain-Forwarding
If you buy a new domain and want it to show or redirect to your current website,, then you can set up a Domain Alias or Parked Domain
Log in to https://cp.blacknighthosting.com and go to:
WordPress (cPanel) plans:
- Services >> My Services
- Click on your WordPress plan (not on the domain name itself)
- Under 'One Click Login', click cPanel
- In cPanel go to:
- Domains > Create A New Domain
- Make sure the Share document root option is enabled
Then follow the steps under "Pointing to the Alias" below to point the domain to the forwarder\alias you just set up.
MEGA/GIGA/TERA (Plesk) plans:
- Services >> My Services
- Click on your MEGA/GIGA/TERA plan (not on the domain name itself)
- Under 'One Click Login', click Plesk
- In Plesk:
- Click Add Domain Alias
- Choose what domain name that you wish to add.
Enable the Web Service option (at least, see below for further information on all the options)
You have a few options you can enable also when adding this:
-
Synchronise DNS Zone with Primary Domain
- This feature is not currently supported
-
Mail Service
- This feature is not currently supported
-
Redirect with HTTP 301 Code
- If you want to create a redirect rather than just use the same files then enable this. This can be better for Search Engines, but will change what shows in the address bar
-
Web Service
- Enable this to have www.newdomain.com show the same files as www.primarydomain.com
Pointing to the Alias
You then need to update the DNS records for your new domain to point to your primarydomain. If the new domain is using ns1/ns2.blacknightdns.com nameservers then please see here for how to set that up:
How-do-I-change-DNS-records-for-my-domain
If you need the IP address of your primary domain to point the new domain to then please see here:
