Microsoft Outlook 2019/2021
There are 2 methods to change your username with Outlook.
Method 1) Via Microsoft Outlook.
1. Go to File
2. Click on Account Settings and Account Settings again.
3. Click on the email address and click on Repair.
4. Click on Advanced Settings, check the box and click Repair.
5. For User name, change this to your new email address. Example: sandra@example.com
6. Click Next and then Finish.
7. You may need to restart Microsoft Outlook for changes to apply.
Method 2) Via the Control Panel.
The following screenshots are based on a Windows 10 PC. Other than the Start menu looking slightly different, the method would be the same on Windows 7, 8 and 11.
1. Close Outlook. Open the Start menu, and type in 'Control Panel'
2. If you see this screen, go to View by: in the top right and change it to either Large icons or Small Icons, otherwise, go to Step 3.
3. Find Mail (Microsoft Outlook) and click it. Note: Your screen may show (32-bit) after it, which is still ok. Click on it.
4. Click Email Accounts
5. Click on your email address and click Repair.
6. Click Manual setup or additional server types and click Next
7. Change the username highlighted to the new email address.
8. Click Next and then Finish.
9. Open Outlook.
Mozilla Thunderbird
The following screenshots are based on Version 102.14.0
1. Click ☰ on the top-right and click on Account Settings
2. Click on Server Settings under your email address. Update your User name to the email address.
3. Click on Server name and then you will see these two prompts. Click OK and then Restart.
Apple Mac Mail
These screenshots are based on Apple Mail 16.0 on MacOS Ventura 13.5
1. Within Mail, click on Mail on the top bar beside the Apple logo and click Settings.
2. Click on Accounts, then click on your email account on the left side.
3. Click on Server Settings, and edit your Username for both the Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server
4. Click Save
5. We would recommend restarting the application for the changes to apply.
Apple iPhone
1. Go to the Settings app and go to Mail.
2. Tap on Accounts and tap on the account that you wish to modify.
3. Tap on Email and then tap to Add Another Email. Type in the new email.
4. Back in the server settings, go to the Incoming Mail Server Section and update the username to the new email address.
5. Tap on SMTP and then the top option for Primary Server. Update the username in here too!
6. Tap Done on the top right, back to Account, Done again.
Android
(Please note: This process may be slightly different depending on the version of Android, the type of device and the app that you are using. This is using the default Gmail app on Android)
1. Open Gmail app.
2. Tap on the initial or icon on the top right of the screen. Tap Manage accounts on this device.
3. Tap on the email address and tap Account settings. Tap the email address again.
4. Scroll down on the page and tap on Incoming Settings, edit the username here. Tap Done.
5. Tap on Outgoing Settings, edit the username, and tap Done.
