On our Cloud VM plans only a small number of ports are open by default. If you need to open up access for other services please see here:
https://help.blacknight.com/entries/22936026-How-do-I-modify-my-firewall-on-my-Cloud-VM-
Some common ports you might want to open are:
Email:
25 (smtp), 110 (pop3), 143 (imap4), 465 (smtp over SSL), 587 (alternative smtp port), 993 (imap over SSL), 995 (pop over SSL)
Databases:
3306 (mysql), 5432 (postgressql). The port for MSSQL is 1433 but if opening this we would recommend doing so only for access from specific IPs.
Websites and FTP:
21 (ftp), 22 (ssh and sftp - open by default on linux templates), 80 (http - open by default), 443 (https - open by default), 8080 (tomcat\java\alternative http port), 8443 (tomcat\java)
Access:
22 (ssh - open by default on linux templates), 3389 (rdp - open by default on windows templates)
Control Panels:
2082 and 2083 (cPanel ), 2087 (WHM), 2222 (Direct Admin), 8443 and 8880 (Plesk), 10000 (Webmin)
NOTE:
If you add an IPv6 IP address, you will need to add a firewall with the source as ::/0 which is the IPv6 equivalent of 0.0.0.0/0
You can see a list of more ports and services they are used by here:
