You can take a snapshot of the VM through the Cloud Control Panel, where this will a snapshot and store it on a separate physical server to your VM itself. Note that you can not access, or download these, snapshots, or use them to restore individual files or similar.

Automatic Backups/Snapshots Of Cloud VMs/Data
Automated Cloud VM bakups/snapshots are not available currently - if you require automated backups of your Cloud VM(s), and data, you will need to avail of CDP Online Backup services. (Click here for more information)
Making A Template Out Of A Snapshot
You can turn a snapshot in to a template also if you wish. You would do this if you have the VM all set up however you need it, with any applications or services installed and configured, and think you might want to ever bring the VM back to a state where everything you need is set up, but no actual domains, data, etc. have been added yet.
That is under:
Virtual Servers > vm name > Storage > Backups >
Click on "Convert to template" beside the snapshot you want to convert to a template.
Once taken, we would be able to rebuild your Cloud VM with this template if you wish.
Notes
We still strongly recommend you keep your own backups of your data, especially for restoring individual files or similar, and as per our terms and conditions taking care of your own data is still ultimately your own responsibility.
- The snapshots are stored on a physically different server to your VM itself.
- Snapshots do not take up space on the VM itself and do not count towards your overall disk space limit.
- One oversized snapshot can be taken - however you first need to remove all existing snapshots before this can be taken.
Cloud 1 VMs:
- There is a limit of 15GB snapshot diskspace and 5 snapshots per VM, regardless of template. At the moment there is no way to increase that.
Cloud 2 VMs:
- The snapshot limit varies depending on the billing plan that is allocated to your VM.
- For instance, "Cloud VM Fixed Business +" plans allow 20GB.
- These limits are subject to change at our discretion.
