Recommended Protection Plans for backing up a server or VPS in Acronis

Below are some settings we recommend for setting up a basic backup plan for the average server or VPS (other than the default):

Schedule:

Change the schedule to backup daily, at an hour the server is not too busy, and make sure to click the "Run every day" box

How many to keep:

Click on "By number of backups" and change it to "By backup age"

We recommend keeping at least the last 14 days, 2 weeks, and 1 month of backups

If you want to keep fewer backups than this then the better option is to change back to "By number of backups"

Application Backup:

If you have a database server on your machine then you should click on this option. You can add a user and password that has appropriate access to all databases on the server here to allow easier backups and restores of databases
