This applies to both Windows & macOS users of Microsoft Office 2016 & Microsoft Office 2019.
Beginning on Tuesday 14th October 2025, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates, software updates, bug fixes and technical support for Microsoft Office 2016 & Microsoft Office 2019. (This includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc)
It is highly recommended that you move to the latest version where possible.
Once Microsoft Office 2016 & Microsoft Office 2019 ends their support later this year, only the following versions would be supported:
- Microsoft Office 2021 - Support ends: 13th October 2026
- Microsoft Office 2024 - Support ends: 9th October 2029
- Microsoft Office 365 - Continually supported.
If you are using our shared email service (Titan), it is recommended that you either:
- Upgrade to the latest version of Microsoft Office.
- Use the Titan webmail directly at https://app.titan.email
- You can also use the Titan webmail as an application on your computer.
- Or use an alternative email client such as Mozilla Thunderbird.
If you are using Microsoft 365, it is recommended to:
- Check to see if you have a Microsoft 365 Business Standard or Apps for Business licence assigned to your user.
- You may need to contact your IT Team/Admin to verify this. If you do not have an IT Team/Admin, you can contact Blacknight Support and we can verify.
- If you do not have a Microsoft 365 Business Standard or Apps for Business licence, please contact the Sales team and we can upgrade your licence.
- If you do have a licence, go to https://portal.office.com/account/ and click on Apps & Devices and download the latest Microsoft Office 365 applications.
Additionally, Microsoft is also ending support for Windows 10 on the same day, Tuesday 14th October 2025.
Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC (Long-Term Servicing Channel) will still be supported after this date.
Blacknight will continue to provide support for users using older applications and platforms where possible.
Due to technical limitations, Titan and Microsoft 365 are not supported on the following applications and platforms:
Microsoft Windows:
- Microsoft Office 2007 & 2010
- Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8
Apple Mac:
- Microsoft Office for Mac 2008 & 2011
- Any version of macOS before: macOS 13 Ventura
- macOS 13 Ventura will become unsupported once the newly announced macOS 26 Tahoe is released.
