This guide is for the latest version of Mac Mail for MacOS 26 Tahoe. Older versions would be very similar to this guide. If you have issues setting this up, please let us know.
Prerequisites To Allow Third Party Access For Standard Email Clients/Software
- Two Factor Authentication must be disabled on the Titan Mailbox
- That is, if you are not using the Titan Apps and want to use Outlook etc..
- See the following for more information: Two Factor Authentication (2FA) For Titan Mailboxes
- Third Party access needs to be enabled on the Titan Mailbox
- For new mailboxes especially, this typically would not be enabled by default.
- See the following on how to for check and enable this: Enable Titan on other apps
Prerequisites:
- Please ensure that Titan has been connected to your domain and email accounts have been created on the Blacknight Control Panel at https://cp.blacknighthosting.com
Please ensure to follow these instructions carefully, as Mac Mail will not accept the email address unless these settings are specified.
If you complete this set up and the mailbox is not working after this, you may have to fully remove the account and set it up again.
1. Open Up Mac Mail and browse to the following: Mail > Add Account
2. Type in your email address and click Continue.
At this step, it will attempt to find the Titan servers. It will not do so in this case.
3. Click "Other Mail Account" at the bottom!
4. Type in the following information
- Name: What you would like others to see when you email them
- Email address: The email address you are adding to Mac Mail
- Password: The password for this specific email address you are adding
- Click Sign in
5. Oh no! Unable to verify account name or password. in red text has appeared! This is an expected error since Mac Mail can't find the Titan servers automatically, so we will need to provide them.
6. By default, the Account Type is set to IMAP, we recommend leaving it as IMAP
Enter the following:
- Incoming Mail Server: imap0101.titan.email
- Outgoing Mail Server: smtp0101.titan.email
If you wish to use POP instead of IMAP, change the Incoming Server to pop0101.titan.email
Click Sign in
7. Click Done
8. And your email is now working
If you are having issues, check to see whether the server settings are set correctly:
- Go into Mail >> Settings >> Accounts
- Click on your email address. Click on the Server Settings tab.
- Ensure Automatically manage connection settings is checked/ticked for both Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server
- Under Outgoing Mail Server, in the dropdown for Account, select Edit SMTP Server List
- Ensure that the Username is your full email address
